I will be starting my search for work very soon. I would appreciate hearing from drivers who can share their thoughts on companies or specific driving jobs that offer consistent miles. I would also appreciate hearing from drivers willing to share their thoughts on companies or specific driving jobs that don't offer consistent miles. Finally, I would appreciate hearing from drivers who can share their thoughts on relatively economy proof driving jobs. I am sure that drivers who supply food and gas almost always have work, but are there any other jobs that don't disappear in a weaker economy?
Most consistent miles?

There is no such thing as a economy proof driving job.

Instead of hunting around for consistent miles I hunted around for a better pay package...
tscottme, Bakerman, Paddlewagon and 2 others Thank this. -
Do you mean benefits? If not, would you mind explaining? Like most, I have bills to pay, and that is why I am looking for consistent miles. Thanks for your thoughts.

No, I mean pay.
You’re on a mileage pay scale. 90% or more of your check is based on the number of miles you ran in that pay period. Get away from this.
You could find a company that paid you by the hour, or by a percentage of the load, or by a salary... just like any other career.
Hourly jobs tend to be local... but you could find a carrier that offers you a percentage or even a salary.Nothereoften, tscottme, Paddlewagon and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank you stwik.

Exactly where is your location and do you have endorsements.

Feast and Famine.
You build savings minus a minimum of expenses, withholding and taxes on EACH load.
To summerize if you had a load that paid say 400 for three days. you presume 200 gone in withholding and run on 60 dollars or less for the three days. Put aside the 140- against famine. By the end of this week with say three more of those loads you should have on paper 420 dollars saved plus whatever of that 60 you did not spend on each of the three loads. If you were careful and got just what you needed to stay strong and not be friviolus you should realize a 500 savings your first week.
By the end of the month more careful accounting should get you close to 2000 saved.
By the end of the year 20000.
Looking good.
Of you had a bad week with only 100 mile delivered? Oh well. Thats where the famine part comes in for those who do not save.Lepton1 Thanks this.
