There are 3 different medical plans. We get paid every 2 weeks here. $135/pay period. This one is a more traditional one with just a co-pay and (I think) 70%/30%. $67/pay period. This is the one I’m on. $3K deductible before it pays anything, $4K max/year. $0/pay period. $5K deductible.
Dental (Delta) and vision (VSP) pretty much standard cost.
Also have AFLAC, STD, LTD & life insurances.Redtwin Thanks this. -
I’d recommend my outfit, but you’d have to run to West Palm Beach or Miami every day.MidWest_MacDaddy and Redtwin Thank this.

I hear you. A local job sometimes isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. We have to deal with something the OTR folks don’t, and that’s a commute, in addition to your time on the clock. I run 35-40 minutes one way, and usually work 11 hours a day.MidWest_MacDaddy and Redtwin Thank this.

Stopped at a WalMart to refill my prescriptions. Came back out, truck won't start. And this is a "No truck or trailer parking allowed" WalMart. And my load will definitely be late for the 4:30am delivery appointment.
So I'm feeling pretty good about life right now.MidWest_MacDaddy, Barn Door Bill, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this. -
I live 6 miles from WPB. I’m surely interested.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and Redtwin Thank this.

Thanks, Im already running those areas everyday. I basically live on I95 between Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
I applied for every LTL job advertised, but didn't get anywhere. Estes and XPO flat out told me they don't hire OTR guys because they find the job too hard and quit soon after.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
One of biggest benefits of OTR is that you "live" 5ft away from where you work. Shipper or receiver taking ages?. Hop in the bunk and snooze or watch Youtube. That ain't happening in a daycab. Ive seen drivers carry a board and lay it between the seat to nap, but that looks more uncomfortable than sitting up with the window as a pillow.
And then there's fuel costs...
Yeah, local sucks.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
Well, that explains why Macdaddy is coming back. Florida isn't big enough for the both of you.MidWest_MacDaddy and Redtwin Thank this.
