I have drove a truck since feb. 1988.I have drove for big companies, as well as small ones with 20 trucks.I came to covenant to train my wife.We went thru orientation together and was assigned a truck. We started in oct. 2008 and are waiting until she has her six months experience to go elsewhere.I would have never thought that Covenant transport could be such a rotten place to work.We sit more than we truck. We are definately a number and not people. They can stand on a soap box and scream we care about our drivers. To that I would say "The people that own and run Covenant transport,Should be ashamed of themselves"

This is kind of a gee whiz story and y'all can read into it what you will. I always give somebody the benefit of a doubt but it sure is hard to do sometimes with this company. Granted I don't know the whole story because I only hear the driver's version but I can't think of anything else but what appears to be the obvious.
Team Redcoat seems to get a lot of loads dispatched to them and then taken away from them before they even get started on the run and sometimes while they're in the middle of it. I'm not sure if this happens to other drivers very much but it sure happens to Team Redcoat A LOT.
So Team Redcoat was on their way from Minnesota to Indianapolis to pick up their load destined to Cali. Somewhere in Iowa, they call ahead to the shipper to see if they can pick up early and the person they talked to asked them if they had a trailer. Redcoat replied in the affirmative and the person said, "Good, because the other guy they sent didn't have one." (!!!)
From that, Redcoat drew the conclusion that Covenant had sent two trucks to this shipper figuring that whoever got there first would get the load and then they'd cancel the other truck. Redcoat says that if the other truck hadn't have been bobtailing, he would have gotten that load and Team Redcoat would have had their dispatch canceled. Then they'd have sat waiting for another one. Redcoat's description of this tactic is that it's a "bit naughty" on the part of Covenant which I would translate to being underhanded.
Does anybody have any logical explanation why this is done and do you know if other companies do the same thing? Or is it just bad dispatching. -
I worked for SRT for a short time, they're linked with Covenant deeply. We were required to follow Covenant rules to an extent. I watched load after load get taken away from drivers, for trainers and husband/wife teams.
And, the dispatchers DO play favorites. Even if they swear they don't.
I've seen a case of 2 drivers being short for safety bonus by a few miles. One would get a load, only to have it taken away and given to the other driver. Due to a family emergency.
Problem...driver thanked other driver for giving up his load so he could make his bonus. Loose lips, sink ships. He didn't make it. -
Hi Redcoat, it's been happening with my husband and his trainer too. They had a load on the way to California, were told to drop it somewhere in Arizona instead and another truck took it to Cali! ???? What difference does it make as to what truck gets it there. Very frustrating. I think he is finally testing out and coming home after 9 weeks.

I don't post much here just read a lot. I keep seeing people talk about being on per diem, people know that hurts what you will make from social security later on right? It is a factor to consider when given the choice between pd and miles pay.

Last December, when I called payroll to ask how many miles I had made so far, I wasn't expecting them to tell me that I had already made 92 thousand miles.... And because I was not checking my payroll info, I didn't know, that they had already deposited my bonus in my bank account. So it was a very nice surprise. BTW, I have called them and visited them in person so many times that some ladies at payroll dept. already know me by name.... hahahhahah..... -
I am glad that Rocks responds to this post. It should give the other Covanent drivers a little hope.
Rocks Thanks this. -
Hi folks....just a little update, me and deb Might be heading for FLA to get on a truck with an owner op that has 5 trucks,379 petes ungoverned,no qualcomm,no body watching. The only requirement is to get the load del on time thats all, pretty easy.
Compared to Covenant, I might be able to deal with this....
I am still reading the posts here, seeing whats up with RC. I will let ya'll know whats up....
best wishes
