So are these drivers knowingly hauling over height loads and not getting permits? Or are they not measuring the load height and just running it as if it was legal dimensions?

Seems like the shipper ought to know what deck height they need to load a spool and refuse trucks that don’t meet those specifications. The driver is obviously 100% responsible, but if it was my product I’d want to make sure it was on a truck capable of hauling it safely.

There's so much I could say... So much sarcsm, so little time... I'm going to settle with "I thought the crack they're smoking to think that's a good idea was illegal?"

I do not expect the shipper to give a #### as long that load clears the bay doors after loading.

I do not expect younger drivers being horsewhipped into getting rolling NOW by dispatch in incessant are you rolling yet messaging and phone calls.

I don't expect very many to deal with a suspected overheight with a proper measure ment up to 13.6

Houston Bridges are generally 14 to 15 feet.

Sometimes I feel shame that I am associating with a industry that displays a range of "Ignorance" all over. It's almost there is a form of cancer eliminating common sense, professionalism and so forth where it's actually ok to not give a #### and dump coils onto highways. Oh whoops it fall off. So sad.

    BS.

Could not have said it any better. You should see the mess thats been caused by the dude that hit the bridge in Midland. Complete chaos now that westbound traffic can't get to the Loves and the city's answer was to dump all traffic onto the access roads. But the dude that refused to follow his permit routing surely doesn't care and will no doubt have another job waiting for him when all of the legal smoke clears.
