PTO blower. Not sure what brand though. Loud as hell.
Thanks, it's very quickly becoming one of my favourite trailers in our fleet. It's tied for top spot with that Heil I usually take out to Waterloo, IA. Only thing it needs it a good polish.

Must be a Tuthill.
Mine is tolerable at 1200 rpm or less. Any more than that, and it scares children and farm animals within a 2-mile radius of the truck.
No wonder we keep having earthquakes out here... lol.
The Gardner-Denvers are pretty quiet. Boss hod one and you could stand next to it and hear the sand going through the hose.Tug Toy, jamespmack, Shock Therapy and 16 others Thank this. -
Sorry I don't have pictures but I took a muffler from a tractor, about 18" long, welded couplers to each end and put it on the output side of the blower then connected my hose to it, made a night and day difference. I think all in I had about $80 and 2 hours invested in it but my ears weren't ringing (even with plugs AND shooters muffs on). I could actually unload without hearing protection. Didn't seem to make any difference in unloading time and since we were hauling cement blowing into the same silos every load the unload times were always the same.Tug Toy, jamespmack, Shock Therapy and 16 others Thank this.

As many of you know, we have a pretty bad fire going here in N. CA about 90 minutes north of me in Paradise. I found this Utube video of the air attack planes they are using. The guy that put it up is Juan Browne, a local fellow and airline pilot that covers a lot of big local news stories in his off time. Interesting video.

Good idea. I’ve seen guys use small mufflers like that. Mine actually has a muffler on the output side, but it’s still a noisy son of a gun.
The trailer resonates at certain frequencies and that can be louder than the actual blower at times.Tug Toy, jamespmack, BigCam9670 and 14 others Thank this. -

My trailer had those vibrating cone things at the bottom of the hopper and they'd get really loud as the hoppers emptiedTug Toy, jamespmack, BigCam9670 and 11 others Thank this.

Gonna call it an early night down the road here in a bit...
Didn’t make it south of Portland like I planned but figure I can wake up and ride through before traffic becomes a nightmare?
I got a 11 stopper for Monday in LA...
