Flag...all drivers must carry paper logs in the event a ELD fails. As for driving more than one vehicle in a shift is an exception, which requires either elog or paper or both.

You’re spot on. Keep a good attitude during the inspection process.

I rarely have my logs checked. But it doesn’t hurt to keep a smile on your face and offer them up all the same. Because there are 10,000 other things they can find to ruin your day with. And they will, if you give them reason.

Now that #### Medical Card BS. That just pisses me off. Why do I have to carry the card/hard copy if it’s attached to my CDL? They made the law attaching it. They should make sure they’re able to retrieve it at all times.

You don't. Been the law that CDL holders do not need to carry a med card for several years now.
You need to start paying attention to the laws that govern your job.

You need to actually have my job. I’ve had no less than 6 DOT inspections in the past 2 years. And was asked to produce that card each time.

Even though that data is on my CDL

Then you simply need to educate the officers of the law and not worry about carrying documentation not needed.

For future reference point them to 49 CFR 391.41 - Physical qualifications for drivers. which clearly states CDL holders are exempt from carrying a medical certificate.

an eLog is not going to solve this because it's not a problem of it's making.

But I really do appreciate it doing the math (figuring available recap hours) 100% right, 100% of the time. I'm okay with this grandfathered system we have. We can drive up to 25 mph before drive time commits. And there are other way to save a little time here and there. But after end of next December, not sure what's going to happen but I will REFUSE to drive anywhere at 4 mph to try and preserve a break or conserve valuable time. I will clean toilets at the Pilot before I subject myself to that level of BS.

What pray tell is your job? I've been DOT'd 4 times in 4 different states in the past 18 months and never been asked for a medical card. But really, you get the card anyway. Why NOT carry it? It's not like it's going to add so much extra weight to your wallet that you will be further winded on your way to the buffet.

    With all due disrespect.

The side of the road, or a chicken house full of grown men wearing guns and badges, is not a place to dispute said persons authority or legal matters.

That’s a called a court room. But truck on Esquire Zvar

    Oh wow, 4 states lolol

But you’re absolutely right. And I do carry it. It makes me look skinny ;)

I do wonder though. Why do they call a petri dish, a buffet?
