New driver looking into HO Wolding and Gypsum Express

I have been on these forums for some time now and have scanned through many posts and company websites.

I went to a driving school locally graduated and passed my road test early August. Had a few things to iron out before driving and it's getting to be that time to hit the road.

I've narrowed it down to HO Wolding and Gypsum Express.

I'm looking for something regional which both companies offer. I'm based out of western NY and both companies have NE regional routes Gypsum with weekends home and HOW with weekends and 1 weekday home.

Gypsum I would either be pulling 1 dry van or 2 48' tandems
HOW would be a single dry van

Gypsum would be paid milage while HOW supposedly pays up to 22.5/hour and I'd have to assume it's only paid while on duty no sleep pay (I can dream though right? Haha)

There is not much info on wither company on here except for some complaints about HOW firing people unexpectedly. As far as gypsum people said their trucks were a bit small.

If anyone has any insight to either I would appreciate it. Any other tips or companies that run regional up here in the NE and have pretty consistent home time feel free to post.

 

I have all of the endorsements besides hazmat and didn't see the need for a twic card

 

I have thought about tankers but surge always worried me and I know I'd have to climb up on the tanks and I really do not do well with heights

 

I will look into it though since the company you shared actually has a terminal in town so that is pretty convenient

 

Plus doesn't most tanker trucks move at night and are shorter hauls?
