In other words, before spending money on games and worrying about boredom, get into the job, learn the routine well, and then concentrate on working smarter. Once you get the rhythm going, you can look for games and hobbies.

Instead of games and stuff, I would recommend that you look into more educational things. Keep your mind growing. The bad thing about heavy gaming is that the rest of the brain that isn’t needed for gaming will atrophy. Take up reading. Learn a new language. Write. Get into photography. Heck, I have a friend that brings his bow and arrow.

I have found a few jobs about 80 miles away that will hire me but I need six months experience. I know I’m too slow for the beverage company ( I’m in good shape I just blame my age). I drive through the city on the same route every week so my driving experience is limited so I figure regional will give me better experience. Downtime also means time to study for hazmat, doubles, right now I get home and I’m a zombie ( been awake since 12:30 am). If SNI does not live up to there promise then I have other options.
My long term goal is for my wife and I to go OTR in two years when she retires

My hobby is learning more about driving skills, maintenance and repairs, load securement, basically anything that will make me more valuable to my company and my customers. I read threads on this forum and learn from folks that have been at this much longer than I have.

I search YouTube for instructional videos, that's how I learned how to change a fuel filter as an example. Want to know how to change your shocks or tarp a load? There's folks that have very informative videos on just about any topic you care to learn.

When you get your gig at Schneider going, write about it on TTR. It’s actually interesting to do so, because you will read stuff that you wrote from long ago that you had forgotten about. Writing is a way to gauge mental advancements.

My problem in writing is taking my thoughts and writing them in a way that makes sense. I find that lots of times, my thoughts don’t make sense when written down. That’s the challenging part.

    Luck in battle.

I wrote a book years ago “ Arthur Godwin and The Stronghold Of Peace” I think it’s on Amazon still. It’s terrible but I do enjoy writing. My problem is I think to much about stuff so gaming keeps my mind occupied. I do a lot of research I know I have a lot to learn. I still don’t know where to sign up to take a shower lol but I will learn.

Did you know that “Moby Dick” was a commercial failure when it was first released?

That is because Melville put in 100 pages about whale biology in the kiddle of the book. If you abridge most of it, its a good book, otherwise its like getting to the Book of Numbers in the Bible.

They also spelled Melville's name wrong in his obituary .
