Companies do provide a lot, but the one word in that list that makes me happy to pay for all the other things is DISPATCH.

That’s a big thing. It can be hard for some to be worrying about loads with everything else you have to cover. Personally, i would rather have someone take care of the office for me...permits, compliance, billing, etc... and leave me to book loads and run the truck.

I am a truck driver, i’ve had to learn to be a businessman. I much rather be a truck driver, the office end is a pain in my butt.

If you ran a dry van I would say that’s a good gig. Question for me would be how much hassle/ time I waste tarping waiting etc.Sounds like it’s good steady freight and return loads that work in your advantage. Other question is how well they work with you. If you’re happy with them or not? As far as rates and available freight Flatbed beats Dry Van hands down on per mile basis.Regardless if their freight is steady and not a bunch of hit and miss hassle sounds good to me. A lot like to mention the $5.00 a mile Load last week. Not the 400 mile deadhead and the layover or tarping or cheap load of bricks etc. Whole picture not as always so Rosey. Less hassle not searching / waiting / wondering etc. translates into more actual Trucking and hometime. Sounds like You have a fair enough deal to me. So many Theives and BS’rs out there. Always been that way as I’m sure you know.

They are good people i work for, i do what i want when i want, and go where i want to go all with in reason of course.

I figure thats the biggest benefit of being a owner op.

I do spend alot of time and labor unloading the freight and the fact that 3-5 stops depending on the amount of items on each stop may take me a day and a half or two days to unload, really puts me behind on the number of loads i can haul in a week...
