I would still single clutch to get out of a gear, if my timing was off a little. Especially if I was tired, I would single clutch out of a gear as needed. I would have my foot on the pedal lightly, ready to go if I needed to clutch.

The Sterling had no jake brake, so I had to use the service brake to slow down. Once I got down to 7th gear, I would brake and skip down to 3rd, and at a stop sign with no traffic, roll through in 1st or 2nd gear.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Yes this has the 3 mode engine brake so ill typically go down to 6th or 5th when stopping. Since im in a rural area i more often then not have the ability to roll so i can turn or roll thru in 5th. It just messes my head up. If i dont pull on the stick at the right throttle position i get snagged and get mad at myself then have to reset myself. Most of my issue is patience. I wamt to just roll roll roll but i gotta remember to just be pstient with the rpms and gears. When everything aligns it'll all fall together, i just dont like waiting some days. I tried single clutching once but it felt weird so i may hsve to just get used to it. Thanks again
