Your accountant is correct, save your money have your business borrow instead. Alternatively, your business could find someone willing to lend money for 0% ... that person would be a sucker... You can earn more than you will pay for a loan. Home equity line of credit is one of the best ways. It also helps build business credit by having a registered loan.

That finance guy is a idiot. Gliders when done properly, adhear to all federal regs and there are no provincial stipulations.

I spoke to a finance company last week who wouldn't finance a glider I'm buying. He said he was a big supporter of gliders but after a couple bad experiences, they quit doing it.

They had 2 separate gliders blow the motor and the owner couldn't cover it so it was repo'd. at auction a glider with a blown motor was worthless and Noone wanted them as it's such a niche thing so they lost boatloads of money.

This I can see happening. St Catherine freightliner does them and if you get a Detroit, it's a factory reman engine that looks 100% brand new. Winnipeg peterbilt is doing gliders but they are rebuilding the c15 6nz in house and you can tell. Looking at the motor, it looks like it's just a rebuild and my personal history with peterbilt rebuilds are not good.

It is my understanding that there are a number of problems. I think it is BC that requires the driveline to all be from one serial numbered truck. In other words if you had a truck you could take those parts to the Glider builder and he would put them under a new cab. But ordering say Fitzgerald it will not be able to cross the border.

Didn't write the guys name down. Called, woman answered, transferred me to a guy, said I was looking at a 2012 Columbia, he said Cascadia?, I said no columbia, it's a glider, he said sorry we don't do gliders, you probably won't get anybody to do it, their banned in some provinces, some provinces will "ground them". That's almost a direct quote. I started to ask where his info came from, he really didn't give me a straight answer. I cut my losses and said good by. I only went to them cause with my bank at home its a long drawn out process figured it would be quick and I was in Toronto. I came home today and will get it sorted early next week and go back ip I guess.

Older thread so I feel an update may help.
Well its 2 years later and many places in BC still building and selling gliders.
A company about 30 minutes away from me has been buying new Western star gliders for 3 years or so now, they got a new one just last week, specced out just how they wanted it. That is number 7 for them in the last 3 years, so obviously not outlawed.

I've talked to more drivers that had Fitzgerald rebuilt detroits that blew up than those that haven't blown up yet.

That's well known for Fitzgerald. They used cheap off-brand parts in their shop rebuilds, rather than factory-spec parts from Detroit. When buying a Fitz, you only go for a factory reman motor, but otherwise they do good work.
