Oh and I’m at this new Shepherd truck stop in Alva for the night. Unloaded way out in the Kansas countryside, bout 20 miles west of Hardtner. Not sure where I’m headed in the morning.

We used to cut wheat in Alva. The guy we cut for was on the west side of town.

 

I’m not surprised. There’s nothing but wheat fields out here.



I took this pic earlier today. Not sure what he was doing but he had it in reverse when I went by.

 

Cool! It looks like he's harvesting soybeans.

He probably had to pick up a skip that the header was leaving would be my guess. That happens quite often when you run the header right on the ground.

When dad was still pulling wrenches on these rigs, a driver came in with a little Toyota engine mounted up behind the sleeper. He used it for heating the bunk on cold nights. I guess a early style apu lol.

 

Loaded this thing yesterday.... be kicking it off and throwing a couple more on later in Wheeling. Having trouble going to sleep, must of been the sweet tea.....

 

If'n ya ever come down route 2 from Point Pleasant to Huntington, there is a wide spot on the right across this place. @stwik would probably enjoy it lol.
