Yeah! You would think that the tuition could be a little cheaper. After all they are not training you on what other schools do. I may have to ask about a discount. Never hurts to ask right. Even a few hundred dollars off just so if in future you want to go test in a manual it would cover that cost of the test. IDK I'm just cheap. Lol.

So let me see if I'm following you, you started trucking with Millis Transfer (as rookie driver) And now you own/lease your own truck and your like an o/o. I'm not sure if im correct on what you call it. Lease operator maybe. O/O have their own authority,Right?
-
The extremely simplified version is...
O/Os have their own truck, they are in the hook for anything that has to do with it, but still need someone with an authority to get loads thru.
Authority is a different ball of headaches, it gives you the ability to get deal directly with companies to bid in and haul their freight.
Hopefully I said that in a way that makes sense, I don't always trabslate what is in my brain well.
I knew Jamie was talking talking about going to autos for training when I went thru but didn't know it had happened. While it will give him a lot more time to teach other aspects, which I guess is good, personally I do not agree with it at all.
On the other hand I did a yeats worth of research before going with Millis and there was only 1 other place that even came close to what they offered.
You could do a hell of a lot worse than going with Millis.Steelersjunkie and BullDozer-( Thank this. -
Yes sir, makes perfect sense. Thank you. I'm definitely still going to Millis Transfer. I agree with you.
Appreciate your help!Suspect Zero Thanks this. -
Going to be hard pressed to find paid training in a manual. If you want that get some loans and go to a private school. I feel you though we were first class at Richfield that didn’t get to do the Millis 500. All our manual work was on the range backing. All driving was automatic. Needless to say I’m really good at shifting into first and reverse.Suspect Zero and Farmer54 Thank this.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, most of the company sponsored CDL training that I researched was manual training. It's okay though, I'm not upset about it. Just a little disappointed, due to having that restriction. Never know if you're going to need it.
Thank you for your help! -
As an O/O I own my ride. Well the bank does, anyhow. L/O is something I recommend that nobody in their right mind would do. I know how much money it takes to keep this operation moving. You won't get even close to that as a lease operator. Here's where the terminology gets confusing... I am leased on to Landstar. That just means that I own my truck and I'm using their authority to run. Getting my own authority would be the next step beyond what I'm doing, and most likely something I do when I change companies again. The freight remains the same as far as line haul pay. But my percentage goes way up.

Sorry lol I didn’t mean anything derogatory. I did a ton of research like yourself. It seems every company that trains now is doing it on automatics. Even with the restriction Millis is our best choice. I am only a couple of months ahead of you in this game. Seriously good luck hope to see you in a terminal some day. I will be the one with a smile. Amazing how many truckers walk around grumpy.dhellmer and BullDozer-( Thank this.

Lol now I’m rambling I’ve been up since yesterday at 6 when receiver pounded on our door to unload. We picked up another load in Toledo ohio switched with a Millis driver in Erie and now are just pulling into BRF. Personal best yesterday and this morning of 606 miles.BullDozer-( Thanks this.

I know you weren't. I definitely think we made right decision. I know what you mean about grumpy, I think people that post negative stuff about trucking are either lazy and thought it was an easy job, lmao. Hope to see you as well. My name is Vincent (Vinny), I'll be starting January 21st in Richfield. I will be the thin Italian guy probably wearing a Yankee cap.
