I would clean it as much as possible and put some dye in the oil, then check again with a uv light to be sure.

this is a very simpe leak, not that simple to fix but fixable. the top timing cover on the new engines now they are made out of POS plastic and what happens is the gaskets go out and they start pission oil. to fix it you need to remove dog house a few hoses and some wiring inthe back remove the valve cover remove the top timing cover and replace with new one around $200 parts at volvo problem is to install it you need special tools to push the cover down so it seals. more labor than anything but still shouldn't be more than 500-600. top gear cover is what you need or top timing gear cover. for some reason 15 are the years they first started with this and they always leak 16 not so bad and on but 15 horrible for this leak.

2 gallons of the oil loose in/ for 120 miles. My Volvo's D13 engine, year 2013, 500hp loosing the oil with no visible leaks. No dripping on the ground and no visible leaks on the engine. I couldn't see any oil in a coolant or in a fuel. Was 4 times in/at 4 different truck repair shops. First repair shop was in Slat Lake City [UT], second was in Idaho Falls [ID], than it was in Boulder [MT], then after in Great Falls {MT}. Money vise : $2,200, $600, $200, and last one $4,400. Total cost $7,400. Still have the same problem. I just came back home from my last trip 788 milles. I was happy I finally made it back safely to my home, and I didn't burn the engine. Butt I had to use 15 gallons of expensive Full synthetic oil Shell RotelaT6, 5w40. (So no money to take home). I am using that kind of the oil ever since I changed factory oil for the first time. I am the first owner of this truck. The fact is : The engine has almost one million miles on it, No visible leaks on the engine, No dripping oil on the ground, No oil in coolant, No oil in fuel. but 2 gallons of the oil disappears in 120 miles. Please...anyone help mi. Do I need a new engine for my truck, or do I need to take my engine to Sweden for repair? LoL...Because , 4 Truck Repair Shops in N. America couldn't troubleshoot and solve the issue on my engine. Thank You
