I know many drivers that do not turn their lights on because they can see everyone else fine (because they have their lights on).

LOL right, yeah I dont understand why people dont turn there lights on in snowy, rainy or any inclament weather. I just ran through erie pa the other day and it was snowing pretty good and ran into a few spots where it was dang near zero visability and all these cars with no headlights on but they got there four ways on, just stupid. If its cloudy, snowing, raining, sprinkling, or anywhere near dusk ill turn my headlights on.

i have a habit of flipping my lights on ALWAYS
crank the truck, flip on the lights, put it in gear, release the brakes.
SAME WAY EVERY TIME -
Thats all fine and dandy if you can see me but if you're running with your lights off, how am I to see you? your lights arn't just to help you see, they are also to help you be seen. What do you think of them cars that ride beside you in the rain with their lights off? Ain't it hard to see them? -
I run with my lights on when the weather dictates it. Rain, fog, snow, dust or any limiting factor.
I also turn my lights on 1 hour or so before sunset. I leave them on for about an hour after sunrise.
If I am driving from the west on a two lane road and the sun is partially behind me, but not be down for a long time, I will turn the lights on. I reverse the thought for East driving.
I was ONLY referring to the drivers I know that have the dumb policy I mentioned. -
Good deal. Thats alot like I run. I just hate like hell when people run around with their lights off thinking they don't need them. I heard a DJ on a popular radio station out here encourage people to drive around in the fog with their lights off so they could see better which is some of the dumbest advice I ever heard. -
Little trick I learned and it seems to cut the glare considerably. A lot of the glare is actually a reflection off of the INSIDE of you windshield and it is caused by your dashboard. The headlights coming at you are coming through the windshield and reflecting up onto the inside of the windshield. Put a dark towel, fabric, etc. on your dashboard. Something that will absorb the light coming at you, and not reflect it up into your windshield like the hard plastic of your dashboard. The only problem with this is that it will cut off you defroster. However, if I keep the air/heat circulating in the cab, it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem.

RainEX, lots of it. Once ran from OKC to Erie Pa Nd back tyto Tulsa before it quit raining. It was Feb of 74 maybe.

They actually make covers for aircraft w/holes for defrost cut in them, wonder about trucks, never had a problem in a 379. Ran red interior lights and dash lights which dont destroy night vision. Put 2 marker lights under dash so you could find what fell on the floor wihtout turning on more light. Don't fall for the guy who will tell you he wears his sunglasses or any kind of glare reducing glasses w/tint. Ask any eye DR and he wills show you they reduce you visibility and if you ahve a crash it's you butt.
