When I get sent out to Stuarts Draft I have no choice, if I fuel back in Ohio I don't have enough to make it to Rafine.

 

Yeah that place is awful. But I hate the one in Troutville more. The only way I will ever go to that one again is if I'm running on fumes. I'll risk blowing my fuel bonus for the month otherwise.

 

5387 miles in the books, stopped at a Choke-n-Puke in South St Paul, MN off of I-694 (Stockmen's) to eat an actual, bona-fide dinner while we wait for our load in Minneapolis in the am.

Starting to feel like a real trucker, can't wait to get my license and get out on the road in my own truck.

 

Only around Charlotte, thank the gods. 285 is much flatter, though.

 

I don't really know what it is. Maybe it's because of the hills and woods. I just get an eerie feeling.
I went to Tampa a few years ago with my best friend to pick up his daughter and bring her back home to NY. It was winter time and snowing pretty good going through WV. It was around midnight and had to stop for gas. I told him not to, but we had to. So he pulls off in I have no clue where WV at a small gas station that had a small store. So I told him I'm not getting out, his daughter agreed also to stay put. No other vehicles there except one, I'm guessing the employee'. So first he goes into the outside door to the bathroom and he's about 2 min in there and it's snowing pretty #### good. When he comes out I can barely see him from the pump but he looks nervous. So he starts walking to go inside the store and pay for gas and some red bull and a pack of smokes. I'm watching him very closely, dude I'm telling you the hair on my neck started rising. He's standing there at the counter and no one is at the register. Min. or two go by, still no one. I see him walk towards the back of the store and then boom he comes running back to the car and just gets the F outta there. He said when he was in the bathroom he heard what sounded like someone muffeled screaming on other side of wall. Then when was inside he saw no one and was annoucing his presence but heard nothing and said he had same creepy feeling and got the hell outta there. I said " I told you not to stop in WV" He said "I guess not." But he had to get gas so we found a much less creepy place about 10 miles down the highway.
We still talk about that night and joke about what was going on. I say he was probably taking a very hard #2. My buddy said he was probably watching porn. Idk but it was #### sure weird.

 

Troutville, VA. I don't think I've been in the NC one. If I have, I don't remember it

The Pilot up in Walton, KY (I think that's the name of that town) is probably the only one I've seen that starts to compare to the one in Troutville.

The immediate Roanoke area needs a real truck stop. Preferably somewhere along 581.
