I’ve never heard of any requiring a refresher. But, there’s still California. God only knows what they have to say about it.
As long as it’s still valid, you should be good. Companies will require a refresher if you’ve been off the road for too long. Each company will define the length by their own policy.Suspect Zero Thanks this. -
to answer your question - NO.

Right and some will only give a simple road test.
Where is your location? -
If your license has been revoked, it is possible they could require you to retake all your written tests again

There's a scenario where if you had to replace a license when out of state, this may require surrendering the cdl, and getting a basic license, if you couldn't be there at the time. Then you'd have to go there in person to renew the cdl, within a year, or would have to retrain and retest. Same for if you wanted to transfer a cdl from another state, except if you didn't renew that on the same day as when you got the regular license, you'd have to retrain and retest after that day. I guess it depends on the state, but those are a couple of situations in which all prior cdl training and experience are voided.

I think some states require it, but I am of the opinion that ALL states should require it.tolson Thanks this.

If someone told me I need a refresher I would walk away, if you know or knew how to drive you still do, that crap is about them stealing your money not safety. I went for 10 years pulling double without touching a 53 foot trailer, It was no sweat as soon as I backed in and it went click it all came back.
