You have to take it right then. It's 25 questions. If you fail you have to wait 24 hours to retake.
You have to retake it anytime you renew as well.
Take your birth certificate too, any changes in CDL and even when renewing you need your birth certificate.
Study the hazmat section in the on line ADOT manual, and you'll be ok.

Do I need any documentation for my existing TSA background check? Still have 4 years left on it. AZ DOT site says I must have current background check to transfer Hazmat but does not mention if I need to bring any kind of documentation. I would assume its "in the system" but assuming is never a good idea.

Take everything. They are more people that like to tell you what you need, after the fact.speedyk Thanks this.

Well I dont have any documentation for my TSA background. Long ago lost the letter they sent. Should be plainly obvious by the HME expiration date on my current license.

Ask for a copy. What makes perfect sense has nothing to do with anything. When I had to show my birth certificate for renewal, I was livid. Not one thing had changed on my license, just renewing.speedyk Thanks this.
