There is so much out there, it’s scary.

On my toy list? Pocket size Short range (50 yards) cell phone jammer. I’m #### tired of people standing at the register and talking on the phone when the person behind the counter is struggling to move the line.

Last but not least. The Ahole that sits in the stall, texting or talking. Not getting any paperwork done.

Yes it’s illegal. Feel free to call the FBI ;)

As frequently as this topic is posted you would think there is some phenomenal prize for guessing the exact date & time the first & last truck driving job is given to a robot. There is no prize. Everybody gets a free guess & nobody at CNN is going to hire the guy who predicted the date. The people entering, or thinking about entering, seem to be obsessed with the idea. I think they just want an excuse to not start. There are many reasons to avoid trucking. Blame it on the robots, I guess.

What are you going to do? Work at McDonald's and high five your manager everytime an automated trucks goes by? You still get paid for each week you drive a truck until the robots replace you. If that's 1 year or 20 years, you are leaving a lot of paychecks & free coffee on the table.

My job is very secure ( roll off dumpsters ) New home build plans aren't even on maps yet, yet alone any self driving crap to these home builds.Over all my job is safe from technology eliminating my job The economy affects my job. When crap turns sour just go the garbage side doing front loader. Still safe. Have the seniority and we have the back up trucks, never hurts to learn the other side of my company. No matter what garbage needs picked up. can't outsource my job.

We'll have to switch to P&D. Ain't no robot pallet jacks coming anytime soon!

FWIW, I was doing some testing a few weeks ago for a major engine manufacturer and a major transmission manufacturer. At dinner one night, I brought up this topic to the engineers who chuckled and said that my job was safe. All I want is 20 more years.

My backup plan for when the robots take over is to become an electrician. Ain't no robot gonna wire a house in my lifetime!

Problem with all jammers, if you get caught, it's a hefty penalty and jail time. We've had 3 incidents here in the Denver area, which thankfully have gone unreported, that have resulted in federal charges against a few people, and all from using small portable jammers. One incident screwed with equipment at TRACON at Denver Airport, I've been told 4 people were arrested in that incident.
