NSSA Winchester off 81 features Artillery Live Shoot once a year or so. Two batteries with teams from around the USA compete. This is a absolute red flag range with live ammunition of the 1800's time period ranging from canister (Coffee cans full of one ounce lead balls .70 cal usually, rains on the mountain back stop 300 yards down. Something one never forgets) to shell shot. Never solid as it might come off that granite and hurt people.
Wear something for your ears. You will be enduring 4 hours of live shoot from 12 cannons, ranging from a 10 pound tregadar to a 14 pound whitworth seige gun rifled down to 12 pound mountain napoleons.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
It would be if you didn't have to wear a helmet.
