Thank you guys for all the info! I agree with all of you 110% I been a O/O before so I know how things go like u joints, brakes, tires, etc... I couldn’t get my truck going to save my life. It ended up being a solenoid behind the dash, so I def understand how frustrating it can be! This is one job that you gotta watch fuel, worry about break downs, never know what is going to happen. It’s not like a 9-5 job. You can be running perfectly fine, then the next minute your on the side of the road. Also, this job is one of the most important jobs in the U.S. if it wasn’t for trucks no one would have fuel, clothes, guns, ammo, food, etc... So anyone that sees this I want to thank each and everyone of you for the info, and thanks for all your guys sacrifice being away from family, friends, etc... I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!!

I went through Fort Wayne yesterday. That is a Trucking Town. Drove by Jasper Truck sales . Don’t know much about them except they always advertise but the Trucks didn’t look bad . Across street was Fort Wayne Truck auction Full of Trucks. Looked to be some junky stuff. But never know. McMahon Tire is the best Tire Shop and alignment I’ve ever dealt with. Penskes over there I bought my trailer from them 3 yrs ago. Don’t think I’d buy Truck there.Taylor and Martin auctions used to have financing approvals system up to a certain amount. That route is risky. Dealers can buy 10 Trucks at auction and bring them up to par then average out costs. Individual who buys the 1 in 10 with a bad transmission gets the shaft.

That's a tough way to buy one. Site unseen basically. That takes some nerve.
Hope it runs a million for ya.

Another Town not too far is Grand Rapids. A few independent Dealers MK Truck comes to mind. They have always had a good selection and prices. Also if going with Freightliner Kalamazoo/ Grand Rapids deal in Used a lot more than most others. Have had very good dealings with them.Like Ft Wayne GR has a lot of Competition for your business . Baskin used to have a lot of cash only as is good deals. I notice since they started offering financing prices have gone up a lot.Could probably find a good price with cash offer but I’m not sure about the quality of their Trucks. They have so many of all types.A lot I’ve noticed are high mileage and obviously bought on the cheap by them.Since your financing best to find something with newer overhaul and tires brakes so you can make some $$ to pay for other repairs.

My route I used to drive went to Decatur, IN every night. I was close to Ft. Wayne every night. I ended up getting lucky and finding a International right down the rd from me. I know the guy selling it. It’s a 98 has high miles 782,000, but it looks like it’s been taking good care of. Brakes looked good, tires good, etc... it’s a 9 speed which a lot of guys hate, but I don’t mind at all. It has a series 60 Detroit engine. New muffler, batteries, air bags. Complete extra hood comes with it which I don’t need, but he’s giving it away with the truck. I got it for 8500. Hoping to get around 150-200,000 out of it before it needs a complete overhaul.

782k on a 98 is very low miles . If it’s been sitting I would start out real easy with it and work out any issues. Otherwise You never know it may go a lot longer if maintained good and driven right.Mine just keeps going like an old slant 6 (sowing machine) as they were called. But what a deal you can’t go wrong.

Is that 9 speed a convertible? Check the model number. Mine was. $500 included installation of a new shifter with a splitter. The splitter line goes into a connection on the side of the transmission.
