I use about 3 totes a year. 3 x 1,040 litres = 3,120 litres or 824 US gallons a year doing 100,000 miles
MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
What do they charge you buying it by the tote?
MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
Just under $650 with taxesgokiddogo and MartinFromBC Thank this.

It looks normal to me. For some time I ran some numbers to determine how much DEF my truck consumes. It turns out my truck consumes 10 gallons of DEF (about half tank) every 2,750-3,250 miles. My DEF tank is 23 gallons. I don’t let my DEF tank go under half full. Several manuals recommend this.
DEF consumption should be correlated to diesel consumption. So, if your MPG’s are low, your DEF consumption will be higher.
By the way, finding these numbers is easy. Write down your mileage every time you fill up your DEF tank. Do that several times, and that should give you a good average. -
Really cold this week. I find that when it is under -24C my Detroit does not use any DEF.
So in the last two days I've used just under 5 litres (just over a gallon).
One of my buddy's Volvo had used 83 litres (23 gallons) in just two days.PE_T Thanks this. -
Similar results with isx 2350.
Between -20 And -25c, did not use any.
No codes.
Just ran across prairies. This cold ain't no joke. -35c across 16 sk/ab this morning. Poke along at 95 kmh. Don't need any surprises; if something were ever to happen you're pretty much all on your own. -
Likely the exhaust temp never gets hot enough to actually do it's thing, so the system simply "bypasses" until the temps get warm enough. At least that's my (admitally limited) knowledge of how the aftertreatment system works.
