No I would not accept that offer. But I do have a question. Is that $1.06 for all miles empty and loaded...OR just for loaded miles?
-
Would it matter if it was all miles? Reminds me of the fella that had a business plan, he was going to sell $1 bills for $0.90 each.
"How are you planning to make a profit?"
"I'm going to make it up with volume!" -
Then nickle and dime you for more? Thats what i heard. Never worked for them , so just hear say.

Here is the thing the OP and perhaps others are misunderstanding about Landstar, or any other carrier you lease on with that pays a percentage of total revenue: you have to know the average revenue per mile. With Landstar YOU are responsible for booking your own loads. If you constantly use their load board app and NEVER develop a relationship with the folks that have high paying freight and THEN ##### and moan you are getting a raw deal...well I have no sympathy. There's plenty of Landstar success stories on this forum. @blairandgretchen is a great example, specializing and getting better and better rates as he learns the ropes.
OMFG I am leased to a company that takes 30% off the top! Should I commit suicide!!!??? I average about 35% unpaid deadhead and bobtail miles. I'm on track to be well north of $2.50 a mile for all miles TTT (To The Truck). I'm pretty happy with my deal. Will I consider a better deal? Sure. But right now I am pleased with my progress. Talk to me again in another year or two, after I get a different truck and maybe upgrade to a multi-axle step deck. Maybe then I might move on and get my own authority or lease on with a carrier that specializes in OSOW.
Folks get all caught up in the "But They Are Taking So Much!" syndrome. The question is so much of WHAT!!??blairandgretchen, x1Heavy and JonJon78 Thank this. -
We need a union for o/o drivers that protect them from corporate monopoly.
We need our own brokers i say college students getting business degree or financial degrees so that the knowledge is past on to the younger generations about the importance of independence and financial freedoms this nation has to offer and not this system we currently have of greed and monopolized control of American workers this is financial terrorism and this is destroying the peace and families of many people who dreams of driving down the road to be able to affort raising healthy families and not this. This is destroction of the nation by slowly stealing peoples hard earn money. -
IMHO your post deserves a double face palm worthy of concussion protocol.
I'm a ####ing businssman! Why the #### do I need a ####ing UNION?
You want to "keep people from stealing your money?" Then get on the ####ing phone and man up to negotiate.
I'm out.PPLC, HillbillyDeluxeTruck, EddieK and 6 others Thank this. -
No, no we don't. Your hypocrisy is unfortunately not too uncommon. Why is it ok for your company to squeeze every dime from say Landstar and Landstar is evil for doing the same?
I have never cared what "The Man" makes as long as I agree with what I get. If you don't like what the other company is making in profit, go open your own company and compete with them. If they truly are making obscene amounts you can easily undercut them and still make money. -
We shouldn't be negotiating loads because 90% of all the megas dont have to. Your used to being a slave competing with other slaves for work.

And this is why he will fail. He's too focused on being an employee and NOT focusing on being a business owner. Instead of focusing on business to business relationships with other companies, he's focused on how evil they are for being a successful company.Lepton1 Thanks this.
