Yup, UPS freight. Starting pay is a little low, but there's plenty of OT and good benefits. Plus, a new contract is coming out this August that hopefully bumps the pay up.

Did the OP make a decision and if so how is it going?

Hey! I went with UPS Freight. Been there 7 months now, but am actually leaving for another local gig in a couple weeks. I was surprised that UPS hired me on being a newbie. The reason I'm leaving is I have a bad taste in my mouth from the recent contract that just went through, plus the schedule gets old after a while. New job offers an earlier start time, and just about the same pay. I still might go otr later on. Freymiller states their applicants need at least a year OTR experience with winter and mountain driving, so I might not be able to get on there. But theres some good tanker outfits I've reached out too lately. One of them is Superior Carriers. They have a terminal close to me here in NJ. I'd also consider schneider and tmc/melton, since thay participate in the gi bill apprenticeship program and are good training companies.
What about you? Are you in school or a new driver?Lonesome and Metallica88 Thank this. -
I'm in talks with Schuster and Freymiller at the moment. I hear the road calling me. I just wanna put my stuff in storage and drive.BigDog Trucker Thanks this.

Oh yeah, I just noticed this thread was under my old handle. I had been booted from TTR before for getting into an argument over politics lol. Buncha pansies. I hear ya on the call, bro. I just want the freedom to do my thing. One thing is the detention time at the receivers, though. Those warehouse guys dont give two figs about you half the time.
You still in school or working for a company right now?Metallica88 Thanks this. -
I'm working for a local produce company right now. Driving both A and B trucks.
I actually interviewed at UPS today but got turned down because I got in some trouble back in 2004. -
Dang, sorry to hear that. Was it freight or parcel? I'm actually going over to straight truck delivery work for a local wine & liquor distributor. Start there in a couple weeks. Its still teamster and I'll hit top rate in a year and a half. At ups, it would take me 4 full years before I hit top rate. So between that, and the crappy start time I have there, I'm taking this wine delivery job and gonna see how it goes. Probably be easier then humping this freight like I am lol. I even joined back up to the gym cuz now I'm gonna have my evenings free again. Sometimes the little things go a long way.Metallica88 Thanks this.

You need to come on over to hauling entertainment. Just saying.BigDog Trucker Thanks this.

UPS Freight truckload has hired a few new cdl grads that have posted on here. Not all terminals do that all the time, but keep the application going if that's what you want.
