Wal Mart NOT Trucker Friendly

The best thing to do is call ahead. I had stayed at that Walmart before and knew the policy.

In California, most of the Walmarts are no parking for even RV's.

 

As an x walmart employee, the manager has the say at his or her own store. The walmart in our small town says no truck parking at night. this manager won't even let walmart trucks park their. This walmart is one you stay away from because the trucks go in and out the same way cars do, very hard place to get in on normal times. Right now they are setting up the lawn and garden part, which means they take up the entire right parking lot, which is where trucks usually park. They have bushes and rocks or boulders to make it difficult to get in the parking lot even if you bobtail. This manager is a real axx. After you shop you have to leave the parking lot. If you stand and talk to someone in the parking lot the security guard will run you off.

 

there are also sometimes municipal ordiances prohibiting overnight parking

 

what is really bad is you have their trailer hooked to you and they still tell you to get off the property ...last time that happened i did shop their i took all the crap i bought back in and returned it .... needless to say i parked there for the night

 

i sleep at walmarts daily some dont allow it some do.
But I cant blame um so many idoits throwing pee bottles and poo bags in the parking lot would you want us there?
Alot of truckers have become nasty would you throw pee and poo in the front yard?

 

i cant speak for any of the posts on here....i will just tell you what i see at my local walmart in Englewood, Ohio. they used to let trucks park there. and the trucks kept running over the curbs and the trees and everything else until walmart got tired of it. seems to me if a certain few would be a little more professional they might not ruin everything for everyone else. but thats how life is isnt it. there will always be a few bad apples.

 

If the Walmart is right next to a truck stop (as in this case and many others around the country), then park at the truck stop and walk to get your groceries. Carrying them back to your truck is a darn good workout!!

 

Not only is it up to each store manager to allow parking,but towns also decide if you can.I was back to my home terminal in Forest Park Ga and went to get supplies and when I came back out I had a ticket for parking in the parking lot after spending $200.00.Needless to say ,I don't shop at that store/town.:smt025

 

At the Walmart in our town, if you look at the curbs you would think truckers had run over them. But that is not the case. Here we have teenager who have pickups and love to move the boulders around. The run up on the curb and push the boulders as far as they can before security gets to them. If they run over the shrubs that is good to them, if they manage to get the boulder in the road coming in or out of Walmart that is great.

Here they won't even let Walmart company drivers stay on the lot.

 

the wal-mart in denver off i-70 (i think), i stopped there because last time thru denver i saw they had a area for truck parking.

i do agree with wal-mart, and agree that we did this to ourselves. when i've stopped there, i always (no pun) do some shopping. Mostly because i need to get some supplies, and to offer my business as a token of appreciation for allowing use of their facilities.

just think if you were a gas station owner, and the next door neighbor would always come in, use your microwave and restroom, because he designed his house without a kitchen or bathroo, because he knew he could use yours....and then thanked you by not buying anything.

2nd reason i conduct business there, is so that if i DO get asked 'why are you parked here', i can show them a receipt and tell them 'because i'm a customer'. hahahaha

but seriously, there have been a couple of occasions where i have found myself running out of my 11hr drive clock, and the closest thing around was a wal-mart. The first thing i do, is go in, talk to the manager, tell him/her i need to do some shopping anyway, explain that i'm out of hours to drive, explain that i am not in the way where i'm parked, and as long as you are polite, 95% of the time, they are fine. Especially when you tell them that you'll be gone by 6am.

But for the life of me....why the heck, if you are going to build yourself a 'trucker bomb', save it and dispose of it in a truck stop...dont leave it sitting around, dont show the public how big a bum you are. Have a little class and self respect.
