    So this truck has an aluminum ring that goes in there for a fan shroud. And a 4" wide strip of rubber that covers the gap between the ring and the fiberglass portion of the shroud.

    $410 for a strip of rubber.
    $861 for an aluminum ring.

    I think I can fire up a tig and fix the ring and I know rubber isn't that expensive.

    I will give them the $180 for the new fan. A million miles and 15 years is probably enough for the original one. I don't need a chunk of broken plastic to wipe out a radiator.

    I’ve never even touched a tig welder and I’d try fixing it before paying some idiot $861. You can braze just about anything. :)
