Own Authority or stay leased on?

You'll have to explain the 3,000 better, is that before the company takes there cut, and before or after your expenses, fuel, insurance, maintenance??

 

the first thing you all have to learn is this - the company doesn't take a cut, it is their customer, their money, you get what you get when they offer the load to you and you finish the work.

The OP should stay where he is for a bit more and learn how this works.

 

Before profit? You average 3k a week after fuel and insurance but not truck payment? The megas have crazy truck payments. Prolly insurance numbers . Break it down for us .

I'm leased onto a medium company.

 

Im leased to a company negotiating my own rates from DAT. Fuel discounts of .40c im currently avg. 2.74 gal for fuel or .41c mi fuel cost. No reefer rental fee. No reefer fuel. Access to national tire acct. 400 qtr bonus (live feed safety meeting 1 per qtr) also reimbursed for tags. Of 1800.00 yr. I get 70% . Some say i can do better with own authority. Is that the case even with perks i currently have. Currently my op cost are 1.20 been avg 2.10 (70%). I like the back office feel they do payroll collect my detention calculate Ifta free.

 

If I understand your question correctly.
You want to no if $3000 gross is a reas8nab6le number to average, with a new truck and trailer. ONLY you can answer that. Because only you no what your deductions are. I will say in most cases that is peanuts.
$3000×4weeks=$12000
Truck payment $1600
Trailer payment $800
Fuel $5800
Insurance $600
These numbers are made up. And just quickly off top of my head BUT.
That leaves $3200 or $800 a week. And a whole bunch of stuff has not yet been paid. So your at less than a lazy company driver pay. Is that good for you?

 

Your made up numbers are really rough
5800/$3=1933 gal x 5 mpg=9666 miles/4 weeks is 2400 miles a week for $3000 or $1.25 a mile

You might be surprised. I see a load that has 5 days to deliver covers 1215mi and pays 2000. And the broker will not budge because it finals in a hot lane . Somebody is gonna jump on it for 1.20 mi . I got 50bucks on the bet

 

Hell no find my topic where I posted I had no idea I had to go through so much bs to get my authority. I thought it was like everything else pay a fee and fill out an application and be done. Then things I didn't understand no problem I am rich I just pay someone to do all of the BS but nope you have to jump through hoops yourself. I will just stay leased on and let the guy sitting on his computer 24/7 handle all of that.
