The carrier broker agreement states, most of the time, about the methods of delivering the POD. If not , the rate cons do. Maybe there should be late payment fees assessed. I've never tried that, but I never got paid unexceptionally late. I book all my loads from loadboards and rather choose brokers with good rating 95 or more (DAT rating) and in addition to that they must be approved by Triumph Factoring; the check mark in the "Factor" column. I don't factor at all but that information is pretty useful imo. This way, I never had any problems with getting paid. It may be a two edged sword strategy as this way I've been passing on opportunities to shake hands with small but good brokers that post on the loadboard sporadically.

First post here...I work for a freight broker handling all their billing and here's our stance:

We handle only military loads. The military is particular about what they consider to be a "legible" BOL and we see some really crappy cell phone shots come through. This is why our rate con says we require originals. But, if a carrier calls me or a factoring company calls me - I'll tell you to feel free to send me a scan. If I think the military will reject it, I'll ask for a better copy.

I can only speak from my experience but I'd be willing to bet other companies are the same. Note that some factoring companies (example: Loves) do not like to approve loads that require originals. But honestly, it doesn't hurt to ask the billing department.

I use Truck pro program from fogline software. It has a Digital file cabinet with it . I use a mini scanner to scan all reciept and catagorize them into pdfs. If somebody calls needs a copy i email them 1 from the program. All my documents and permits get scanned and saved.
