I dropped down to 18" blades on my one piece, curved windshield (T2000). I switched to the Rain-X blades and love them. The MUCH shorter blades stopped building ice on the tips.

One thing I do is something I learned from a couple of YouTube videos, for really prepping your windshield for heavy rain or icy conditions:

    1. Wash your windshield thoroughly.

    2. Get a 0000 (quadruple "aught") steel wool pad (sold at Walmart). This is the thinnest, finest steel wool intended for polishing hardwood. Go to work on the entire windshield. One pad should be able to finish the job. You will be getting the last chunks of insect carapaces and other gritty debris to come loose.

    3. Wash the windshield again, then let it dry thoroughly.

    4. Apply a coat of Rain-X on the windshield and rub it in thoroughly with an old wet t-shirt. Let it dry.

    5. Repeat step 4. Be sure to use liberal amounts of Rain-X on that t-shirt and thoroughly coat and clean your Rain-X blades.

Doing all that results in a windshield that will shed all but the heaviest rain without using wipers. It will shed ice and snow build up better. The treatment will last anywhere from days to a month, depending on conditions.

Note: Late model freightliners Cascadias might not do as well with RainX treatment. Dam near every time I crank the engine, the wipers will go one time and smear and scrub whatever is on there

I use Everblades heated wipers, they do work well for the conditions you describe, and they're even better with both blades 1" off stock length.

The blades are high quality silicone and although they're pretty good all year it's not cheap replacing them. Everblades recommended taking them off in the spring and putting ordinary ones on for the summer, they disconnect quickly so it's no big job.

Here is what I went and did......

Found a set of Michelin 24"(driver's side) and 22"(passenger side) blades. Sizes in stock were not easy to find for any of their brands(the people Walmart uses needs a remedial class in merchandising, they would have all failed mine miserably). Will post opinions after use.

I also found a Rain x ww fluid rated for -30 with de-icer and bought 2 jugs. Problem is I had just filled my ww fluid with what I already had on hand, so my opinions on that will have to wait a little bit.

You can siphon most of the fluid out, if you want to, and have a couple of empty gallon jugs to use for it.

Or use it up, some people use lots of washer fluid.

As far as a 2019, we are getting some that are still the older style with national lease trucks, they are 2019s as well. Even getting some with open tanks, which I like better for where we run, the fairings get damaged by plowed up snow and ice.

Rainx washer fluid got to plugging up my spray nozzles on washer. Only thing i can figure out. Mayby i dont use it up fast enough, but it gelled, or kinda got almost like a algae. Stuck to sides of washer tank. I do use it on windshield hand scrubber.

Does no one just put the heat on the floor, crack your windows, and keep the heat down? You shouldn’t have to use your wipers in a storm unless the air temp is around the freezing mark.
