lease operators are not really owner ops and they are not really company drivers and it's possible to pay off a truck that way but not the best way and seems to be less likely as the Corp lawyers string it out ...... I think the best way to be an owner operator is to have that title in a drawer in your office free and clear. .. maintenance may be a little bit higher than a new truck but not having a payment your better off at least 10 months out of the year . some how these mega carriers seem to be able to get there lease operators into new trucks before the first truck is paid for . it seems to me like the company treats the lease operators like an owner op when it's to there advantage and more like a company driver when it suits them ...... if you run hard with few off days you probably are better off leasing 1 and if you are wanting to run 2000 miles a week and have some home time you're better off being a company driver and if you wanted to actually own a truck your better off getting a truck on your own even if you lease it back to the same company your with .... I do know that companies treat there true owner ops a lot different and better than there lease operators
UturnGirl Thanks this. -
If you are in debt up to your neck, have huge child support and or have to support your ex wife plus a big car payment, etc then you should not do a lease purchase. If you are irresponsible with your spending, don't do it. A successful lease purchase from an honest company can be done but you will have break downs, #### happens, winter slows everything or some newby will tear your hood off in a parking lot. You must focus on your truck because you are going into business with no money. It can be done. I did it twice before l retired. Pay your taxes! I was forced into bankruptcy by the IRS in 1991when Bush was elected and tanked the economy after 7 prosperous years of Reagan's economy. My mistake, pay the truck payments and catch up later on taxes. The IRS wants their tax first.
