If your nails are the center of your life, don't even try trucking.

I'd say anybody wouldn't mind to answer a few questions if approached in a proper manner. At least I would and I would as well let you know if time is short and crucial.
Do you have any friends who is running OTR or somebody might know somebody. Maybe you can get in contact and possibly take a ride along before you start school.

And sure gloves do keep nails clean.

On the contrary, I get my nails done so I can forget about them for a good 25-30 days;). I love the idea of riding with someone but I don't know a single soul in the trucking business.

Since you've joined this forum, now you know many in the industry, unfortunately not in person.
Just ask around in your neighborhood. Chances are sometimes closer than you think.
Possibly getting in contact with potential employers. They might even have female drivers to get in contact with. They even might get a ride set up.

OP, I have been driving for almost 12 years. I keep my truck very clean and full of supplies. I am so comfortable in it that I refuse staying in a motel even when company pays for it. Also there's perdiem and a $200.00 extra for resetting my 34hrs on the road. All that cash makes it more advantageous to stay in a truck stop. By the way, I am a female driver, just gave up on the nail thing a long time ago.

    L84APPT Thanks this.

I like your style and I too have a knack for planning. I could see myself strategizing in a similar matter. Thanks for the tips!

Very few places will let you adjust load times for what you want. In a week, taking a 12 hour break everyday is 14 hours you’re missing out on working. In a mileage gig, that’s an extra 800 miles or so you could have

Why missing out on 14 hours instead on 12 hours? What does 800 miles mean in dollar and cents?
