Been listening to T. Boone Pickens about this idea of running road trucks on LNG. Just starting to research this with some of the Cat & Cummins folks. Both company's build power systems that are LNG fueled & have been making pretty good inroads into the power & Torque curves. What are the thoughts here??????

When in the AF we had a Surban with tanks in the cargo area. Took up most of the space and I didn't feel confortable with that much explosive near me. We had to drive 130 miles each way to missile site. Only could use compressed gas for one way, had to use gas to get back. LPG might go farther but the explosive power I think is greater. For a short trip in town low speeds maybe. On road? There is a trick used -take a 5 gal tank place explosive on throw in house. Clears house. It explodes much better than gas or diesel.

He's talking about Liquid Natural Gas, not Compressed Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Gas, as least as far as I understand anyway

You're right, sorry

Kind of hard for me to accept, but the diesel engine may eventually be replaced. Just don't know exactly WHAT will replace it, and I do not think there is anything out there CLOSE to replacing it. 55 yo now, I don't think I will be driving the new generation of engines.
but I have been wrong before -
N.P. Papa !!!!!! Jus' tryin' to see what the feelings here are.

Everyone wants better mileage, which means less fuel for more mileage. But your Washington self serving Paper Hanger and the EPA have stifled progress!
droy Thanks this. -
Businesses will go with whatever is most economical . With fuel prices where they are now there is little incentive to use LNG . There is a problem with availability .

Univ of Columbia 20 years ago developed multi fuel head for Detroit S-60. Propane injectors were added to the head, there was a increase in engine performance. Some where along the line the project got the ax!

Schwan's Foods switched their delivery trucks to propane . They obtained several grants for doing this and articles stated how much money was saved by converting to propane . BUT Schwan's adds a $1 fuel surcharge to every customer's order .

That cost them some customers who calculated how many customers on a route paid the FSC .
