I'm new to Werner Enterprises but definitely disappointed. The total for my last 2 paychecks was under $5.00. Now I'm going from pay advance to advance each week. Low miles are the killer here. And at .26 cents/mile which is a lot lower than advertised on their website # $.352 cents/mile average. Is this the norm? Or do I need to look for other pastures?

What are your miles and what have been your pay advances?
Many drivers have to sit for a day or two now -very common in this recession.
Sort of like a trucker hobo: I throw a pop-top soup on the Webasto and take a day off (usually to this forum and others)

Making only 26cpm will make it harder though.

.35 cpm average as a newbie lol

I think you read the wrong line.

Its a bad time to be in trucking but if you are taking advances how much were they? You have health insurance 401k ? You could be making 600 a week take away 2 advances 401k taxes and health insurance and easily end up broke. Need more info.

Even though you have little experience I would consider training for Weiner as soon as possible. The previous record is 3 months experience --> I believe you can break that record!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I can't believe companies like this are still able to find people crazy enough to work for them! I sure wish I could figure out a way to get noobs to stop selling their souls to these horrible companies.

I am also wondering how they can get away with saying that they pay .352 for 0-1 year experience, and then pay you .26?:biggrin_25512:

The last time I drove for .26 a mile was back in 91

Switching companys, big or small, is a hard thing to do right now. The economy is so bad all your Doing is throwing away the time you have spent in one place puting in your dues, and moving to the bottem of the food chain with another company. I have had two friends move to the so called better place, only to be sitting more and when they do move, do it by cheatin logs. Its not always greener on the otherside, but if iwas in the same boat making that crap for money, I would have an ear to thw pavement lookin around. Where I live in california there are all kinda of jobs driving getting ready to open up with all the harvest/produce season getting ready to hit. I don't know what you have in Illionis as far as produce but the produe market out hallin in the feilds pays good for awhile, a lot of times you can land year round work if you do a good job. One of my former student drivers lives In illinois and I have been helping him try and find work and have told him the same thing. Most of the produce/feild hallin work will take new drivers. It may be worth a shot and keep you closer to home so spending all that money out on the road will not be needed. Hope this helps you some. Goodluck

Although I'm a total noob looking to get into the industry, $5 for the total of 2 checks, even with the wheel time being my main reason getting into it, isn't enough. Although I understand while I will be "paying to learn", with lower miles and low pay scale to do so, there are some limits as to what I can or will trade my time for. I think anyone in your position would know where their limits are. Leave clean, and watch your DAC..

"I am also wondering how they can get away with saying that they pay .352 for 0-1 year experience, and then pay you .26"

They say annual average pay is .352 for 0-1 year. That includes all bonuses and most anything else paid by the company figured in, it could even include what they pay on health insurance. It is not just straight mileage pay, it is very important to read things and ask questions of the recruiters.
