How did I miss this? Can now use personal conveyance to leave a shipper loaded

    I have to agree my friend..... I have ran with a guy that loads the same plant I do. If he is a hour or so from home and runs out of time, he just calls his buddy and punches his driver # in then hits the road again! Great guy and great driver as many are..... But sadly us oldskool guys are the ones called outlaws! ELD is no different than a CDL license, waste of money! I was driving with a Chauffeurs license when the talk of cdl's came about, and the big selling point?!! To keep the best of the best on the roads and weed out the bad guys. Guy I grew up with knew how to work the system and stayed on the road snorting cocaine everyday. But my mentors that were top notch left the industry, simply because of being afraid of passing the written test. Most had very limited education but could handle a truck better than most of us could think of. Everybody be safe out there.

    O/O, want to use your truck for a 100% personal use trip, no money made from use of said truck, got insurance that will still cover such use?... Tape a "NOT FOR HIRE" sign over your #s and roll where ever you want in the USA, keep a log of the last 8 days of which your personal trip will all be "Off Duty"

    Ex. You are an O/O whos hobby is restoring and showing classic cars. You take time off from work for a car show. You can haul you cars where ever you want, and back.

    Now if you sold a car at the show... Then you could be in hot water.

    the problem is that many companies con't recognize or allow the personal conveyance use in they're company provided log. you can't use it if your company says it doesn't exist?

    Then get another company that isn't crap.. it's one thing if they don't want you to drive for personal use, but if they are forcing you to violate your logs when PC could legally be used then tnat is a crap company..

    Pc to leave is good deal but what about a reciever that has no parking like CVS in indy. You gotta start your logs to arrive at reciever at 0600 . Then you pc to truck stop . Your 14 is running why you look for a load. Now your forced to take a cheap load before clock runs out. BINGO forced to take a cheap load to stay moving exactly the whole idea of elogs. Only companies with drop hook accounts will be able to accomindate the logs. Single owner your forced to take a load or lose a day.

    So many things wrong with this....
    1. the pc guidance only allows pc from shipper/receiver if you are out of hours. ie there is no 14 to keep burning at the truck stop. You should be Driving to the truck stop.
    2. Elogs don't force you to do crap. If you feel you are not making the revenue and need to take a cheap load it's you that are making that decision. Also, elogs is exactly for people like you running illegally for too long. It's simply a more accurate way to record hos. The hos is still the same....

    My point is im sitting in a abandoned parking lot 1.3 miles from receiver who has no parking in the neighborhood. And all wal marts lowes etc has city ord sign for towing . I start my log at 0530 my appt 0600. I posted my truck available day before. For indianapolis. Im empty at 0630 . Most brokers arent on the boards till 0800. So i go 10mi to tstop. Clocks running i gotta find a load . I gotta take a cheap load because there are only 64loads avail in 100mi radius. I found a load lane pays 1243.00 but broker only taking 700.00 on 473mi . Tell me you take that. Or i can sell you a load pu at 2345 going 375mi for 1600 it delivers following evening at 2100. So i keep looking finally found 1 . Bummer i dont have the hrs to deliver my clocks running . It noon im better off doing a 10hr break that ends at 1530 and guess what only 32loads available. If i pc this morning that 1 mi to reciever i would of had 11 hrs available on the 375mi load for 1600 . Instead it was a straight i dont have the hrs . That the game . Play it or cheat no different than paper
