1988 I was driving a ‘56 Bel Air (4-door, dangit) with the factory tube-type AM radio with one speaker in the “V” on the passenger side of the dash. You turn it on and by the time the tubes warmed up and it started playing you’d done forgot about it. Usually had the volume way too high and it’d scare the poop out of ya.

And it's funny, also have a 2011 Tacoma 4 dr long bed and other than the Ford being taller, the "mid size" Toyota is wider and longer. Of course it's "long bed" is a whole 6 1/2 feet and the wheel wells are so close you can't even put rock in sticking out over the tailgate without cracking the bottom sheets.

The 63 Bel Air 4-door I had after that, they had invented transistors by then.

I have a tube amp at home, same thing, turn it on, turn it up then a minute or two later run back over to it to turn it down. Used to have a "Kicker" brand CB linear that was tube driven. Only 250w but once I got the tubes hot I'd walk all over the guys running the DX667 Texas Stars.

I have seen them set up as a " bed brake " before . Basically just your drives on a spike .
    Yes I know I am behind . The more I read ,the further behind I get , i think.lok

Never tried hauling sheetrock in my long bed Ram, but I know a sheet of plywood will lay in there with the tailgate closed and still have some wiggle room. Taking sheetrock somewhere usually leads to a lot of hot sweaty work and I'm allergic to that.

@MagnumaMoose FYI the pickups aren't getting bigger. Parking spaces are getting smaller. Some of the newish retail in my area I just don't go in my pickup.

Edit to add: I have gotten good at spotting spots where the tailgate will overhang the landscaping, or far enough out in the back 40 to do a "pull thru" and encroach the space behind me by a foot or two to keep the nose out of traffic.

They can afford the payments on a 55k 1500 pickup, don't mean they can drive or park it. To me a pickup has a 8' bed no less. So I ask all these kids "how do you haul dry wall or plywood. Good forbid a set of tires for semi. F- I dont get it.

Made Unity, SK no problems. Outside of the 10am loading appointment for tomorrow. That's only 14 hours from now, lol. At least I've got a place to park in town here at the Co-op that's sheltered from the wind. Supposed to be hitting 0F tonight, nice and cool.

Gonna grab some grub and then kick back and watch some movies to kill time. Gotta stay up later so I can sleep in and not sit around burning morning energy in case they won't load me early.

Them “load and plate” tube amps sure sound good, if you can keep em on frequency.
