In short, NO...
If your lucky, customs officer will just hand you you papers back.
But, if he looks, you gonna be sent back to Canada. When they search, since you got a pardon, your convictions won't show up, but it will show that you have a record. So, in short, they won't know what you were convicted of, they will just know that you were convicted....
You need a waiver from US to cross the border
just got a canadian pardon, can i get into usa

US wont know what you were convicted of, but they will see that you were convicted of something. They WILL turn you back. I have a buddy with a same problem like you. He was turned back, went to councils office in Toronto, got a US waiver, and he is OK now

Utter nonsense.

A passport is not currently required for entry into the U.S. by land, although it certainly helps the process.

What about Americans crossing over?
I haven't been to Canada in about 16 years....has it changed? -
Just proof of citizenship coming into Canada. The new passport requirement for air crossings and the pending requirement for land and sea are strictly U.S. initiatives. So, yes Americans need them if crossing by air, or will if by land or sea, to return to the U.S.Working Class Patriot Thanks this.

Let me see now, I was similar to pete159, messed up when I was 18, got a pardon at 30, got turned back at the border when I was 44, didn`t deny my record at that time and was asked what the date of the offences were. I replied I could not remember, he said I do and turned his computer screen and asked me if that was right and my record was there
Since that can`t happen I guess the fairies put it there.
Funny thing tho, how nobody can answer this guy but can come in an attempt to discredit an answer.
I`m done now Good Luck pete -
Your conviction was not "shared with the U.S. when it happened", certain of your information was available to U.S. Customs when queried. Big difference.

As the other posters have said, you're S.O.L.
A Canadian Pardon is not recognized by the U.S.
You have to get the Waiver forms, fill them out, go to the border with $625 U.S. and hope they grant the Waiver, since the $625 is non-refundable.
There are many companies on the web that will help you for a fee.
Canadian Pardon Services will help you for about $450. Plus the $625 for the U.S. Plus $25 for the R.C.M.P. to run your fingerprints for the U.S. waiver.
Professional help is recommended, since they'll tell you everything you need, such as your last 6 months bank statements, 3 letters of reference, employment history etc.
Then if granted, you get to do it all over in a year.
