i have a 99 classic with a isx. This morning when I shut the truck off I turned the key and it did not shut off. It was like I did not do anything. So I opened the hood and pulled the wire off the fuel shut off between the metering valves. Truck shut right down I just replaced the shut off valve a mo ago. Put the wire back on. Instant power the primer pump started running accessories started going. Hit the start button nothing. I jumped the selinoid on the fire wall truck stated right up. Had to take the wires off to shut it down again. Truck is not shutting down on the timer either. Do I have a bad selinoid? Maybe the key switch? How can I test the switch or selinoid? I do have a multimeter in the truck.

Check the back of switch for power to starter.
-
I don't recall seeing a 1999 truck with an ISX.
AModelCat Thanks this. -
It's a signature 600 so a early isx
-
I had that out and the stem the starter is connected to has juice. I'm thinking the key switch is bad
-
I don't know if the starter is getting juice from the key. But I can jump. It from the selinoid. I'll be home late tonight I have to dig in farther.

This is going to sound kinda' crazy, but just humor me. Check under bunk, driver side and see if there is a silver box. It will look like a small power inverter. It would be the low voltage power disconnect device. Unplug it. Unbolt the two cables going to it and bolt them together. This will bypass the unit. See if truck shuts down and starts properly. If no success, then you will have to start pulling relays from center console distribution panel. You will find corrosion on several. Replace the ones that are corroded.
Dave_in_AZ and RSB34 Thank this. -
I have seen that box I just thought it was a inverter. It started to shut off and start with the key agin today. I'm going to look into it farther though it does have a problem that needs resolved.

find your self to be a lucky man. i dream everyday i could go back to running the truck all day and night. what good sleep that was. constant ac, get those rpms right, very little vibrations. man oh man
RSB34 Thanks this. -
You can also look behind the drivers seat on B pillar for a door that you must use a screw/driver to pop it open and it has a fuse box with relays and when it will not turn off next time start pulling them till you find the one that turns truck off, you can open the pass top of dash fuse box to find another one that wiil turn motor off also, was it raining when this happened?
RSB34 Thanks this.
