I think it's sad wannabes can't grasp the fact that there are next to no opportunities for jobs . Good intentions , willingness to work don't create jobs . With trucking companies cutting back their fleets and laying off thousands of workers what makes you think jobs are available ? You might as well go to Ford or GM for a job .

Rick the real ? Is will all these companies who are not hiring right now be requiring all these newbies to take a refresher when the economy does pick back up. What I'm really asking will all the grads from october through now get shafted out of a chance because they been out of school “too long“?

Yes , if hired they will need a refresher course . If people don't smarten up and quit training for jobs that aren't there there will be so many applications they'd have better odds buying a lottery ticket and hoping to win millions . Don't forget there are tens of thousands of experienced drivers out of work that may get hired first . And yes , these guys with 5 or 6 years experience will also have to take refresher courses .

That fell through plus I had some personal issues to take care of. So don't attack me calling me a wanna be. Would a wannabe spent close to 5000 on school and permit fees. I graduated at probably the worst time to be a newbie. If I wanted to be a wannabe I would have never spent the money on school and dmv fees and not to mention meals and travel to school. I'm not a wanna be I'm a cdl grad stuck without a job because of the economy and the crappy job market where noone wants a newbie. Look how the experienced driver route is working no real well, if you ask me still hearibg schneider commercials all the time on sirius.

Sorry , but a graduate without a job is considered still a wannabe . Your CDL will soon be useless and you'll need a refresher course to get a job . There are thousands of others like you out there . Far more than there are job openings for so many will never be more than wannabes .

HEy Bigpapa, keep your head up and keep looking. Look for straight jobs as well as tractor trailer jobs. Start looking into local Flat bed companies, turf farms, landscaping as the season is about to start. Look into local refer companies, milk deliveries and waste/recycling. Whatever your do just get a driving job.
