Is that 108-100k at top rate? Which program?

Nice! I was afraid of not hitting the 86k mark my first year. Currently making about 80k, but tired of constantly unloading freight.
-
if you chase that money you wont make it long. theres a ton of stuff to learn. January will be very slow, alot of setting around. with second truck pull aheads. you will be lucky to make 80k first year on a 5/2-5/3 program. you will do better as extra or full time driver. fort pierce sent some drivers home the other month. due to lack of freight. remember extra driver isnt promised a truck or loads.mxpx148 Thanks this.

also theres some truth behind your rank on the day you have out. the senior extra drivers get the whole week trucks first. every new batch gets mad and says if this is how it is then im going back too old company. i hear it all the time in the shower room.
laaylor Thanks this. -
I don’t get it...chasing money won’t make it long? Also, what do you mean 2 truck pull aheads??
-
Don’t know about not chasing after it. I do and make good money (come close to running my seventy out most weeks on a 5/2 w/assigned truck).
No, that’s not top rate (regular weekday mileage pay for me is fifty cents/mile).
Most stores get two trucks per day. If we are dispatching ahead, it’s possible to get a store’s second load in the early afternoon of the day before that load is due at the store.
Like, leaving DC on an early Thursday afternoon to deliver a trailer to a store that’s due on Friday at 16:00 (second load appointment) -
trying to hit it hard. most stores on the east get 2 gm trucks a day. 14:00 and 16:00. some in charlotte get 3 gm's.mxpx148 Thanks this.

So you’re saying that there will be many times that I’ll have a lot of downtime before store drop appts? I thought you meant leaving my job to chase money...I actually love the company I’m with, but I unload tires, sometimes 2500+ in a week, and I don’t want to end up in a wheelchair at 50 lol. I’m just hoping to at a minimum meet what I’m making without breaking my back.
