Another week?
no way would I my time with another week.
See this isn't a vacation, this is work and money is lost with a loss of time.
Some people can't make the connection, they don't need to be on the road.

how do you motivate people? i think this is a question that truck drivers ought not be tasked with answering. it depends on the objective, timeline, who it is and their relationship with me. i would give the character in this story one chance. if explaining myself and being very clear of the objective isn’t enough motivation - adios.
your friend is here to teach our subject how to drive a truck. my short time alive has taught me if people want to be productive - they will. simple as that. family is different, but this trainee ain’t family...Dan.S, otterinthewater and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Speaking foy myself, part of what motivates me is an innate desire to accomplish the mission by delivering the load on time.
If its late for reasons outside my control, I can live with that, but only after I have exhausted everything in my control (within reason and safely) to make it
And of course the company will be alterted by me as soon as I realize I might be late.
I drove overnight two nights in a row recently because it was the only way I could make the delivery on time. As much as I dislike trying to sleep in the daytime, I dislike being late even more.Flatbedotr, homeskillet, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -
OMG. A touchy feely emotional post.
There is a place just for that kind of work. A strip joint, a stack of ones and twenties will do it.otterinthewater Thanks this. -
Some of the best potential 16 dollars a hour blood draw techs will come from a small pool of people capable of and courageous enough to go after a Jug. A slang word for essentially a central line of sorts to inject drugs into a addict that has become like stone or marble unable to move in the street.otterinthewater Thanks this.

Te the company to give you a solo length run. Tell the kid heres you load conformation. Its yours to get there on time. I will only answer questions when you ask, and speak up when its required to protect myself and the truck from physical harm.
Welcome to driving. Its a self starter self sustaining business.88228822, homeskillet, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -
UPDATE:
1st- really good ideas and logic in this thread. How unlike many of you.
He’s off the truck. They stopped for fuel and the trainee packed his stuff and walked away. Told my buddy thank you and this wasn’t for him. Turns out he went off his meds to get the job (no idea what meds) and he hated it from day 1 of school. So he spent weeks getting his license ran up a big bill to the carrier for school and walked away. ####. -
The WORLD is better for it. Good for him.Ruthless, x1Heavy and otterinthewater Thank this.

So the recruiter did not do his homework. Drivers bill should be on the over zealous recruiters dimex1Heavy and otterinthewater Thank this.
