I'm up in Western Canada and have talked to two different shops. One shop was an Eaton specialized shop and they said they had never done a conversion and it would like cost over $10,000 to do it! Then I talked to my local shop and they agreed saying it was a lot of work.
Then a guy I know said it wouldn't be that tough to do. Put in a shift tower and a few small changes and TCU/ECM changes.
So, I'm kinda stuck not knowing what to do. All I know is that this 18 speed autoshift is driving me crazy with codes and getting stuck in gear with a flashing F. I've actually had to use the end of a wrench to tap the XY to get it to find neutral so I could restart the truck after it got stuck in 17th gear. Ugg...

Pablo-UA man I have a question: I did the conversion of the autoshift Transmision (Eaton) to a 10 speed manual. My truck is a 2001 Volvo with a D12 engine (already had the 3rd pedal/clutch), however I’m not getting any throttle response/ no acceleration. The shop is saying that they’re not able to program the parameters and that a new engine control unit is need it. Any advice or knowledge on regards to this? I would greatly appreciate it!

The shop that did my conversion did tell me that the trans and engine ECUs must be programmed to communicate with each other and that only a Freightliner dealer or Stewart Stevenson can do that. No problems with my conversion but the cruise has not worked since the conversion and I am no longer a fan of Freightliner since I got screwed over by them to the tune of thousands of parts thrown at the POS 10 spd autoshift that never fixed it. I would call a Stewart Stevens shop for advice. Good luck!

You keep your existing transmission, just need a new top plate ($500 usually). Then you need a Meritor stick shift ($200 at a junk yard). New transmission harness, my mechanic made one himself and charged me $200, $200 ecm reprogramming and the rest is labor.
You should probably install a new clutch too while you are doing this
