I've had my DOT for 7 months. I've done business with about 80 brokers. I don't look at it from the standpoint of which broker. If the city has 5,000 loads and only 3,000 trucks, well the rates are good and vice versa. What I worry about is the brokers credit. After I get the rate confirmation I will google the shipper and receiver. If the shipper or receiver has extensive reviews that are very poor I will be honest with broker and let them know I'm not waiting 5 hours to get loaded or unloaded. They will understand. You have to help them understand your running a business and time is money. Plus integrity is critical.PE_T Thanks this.

I’ve never thought about doing that, but I have been fortunate that most of the time I have booked a load with bad Google reviews, I haven’t had any serious delays. It’s strange how many people can post bad reviews, but when you go in, it’s different. Out of the times I have been delayed significantly, it has been the meat shippers like Tyson, which I now try to avoid. I do get detention pay, but it’s not worth it.
