43 in Ohio south of Canton is a pretty nasty stretch. And 255 in PA south of St Mary's leading to 80. I could do without both of those. But I know dam well I'll be on both of those again at some point.

 

66 isn't too bad. Although I admittedly never travel on it east of 17. I'm allergic to the east coast. My truck doesn't go east of 17 on 66. Once I touch the east coast it seems like all the available loads either keep you there or send you to Florida. That's not just a NO, that's a HELL NO

 

Perhaps that would explain the current condition of my lug nut covers. They used to be shiny....

No matter what company you work for, there is always gonna be a downside. There are two absolute constants in this industry. There is no such thing as a perfect gig, and you're never gonna get rich doing this job. I get hit up all the time with questions about life as an O/O, and life at Landstar. It is most likely not anything like anyone would think it would be. I know a lot of folks assume that owning your own ride and working for a company like Landstar equals big bucks. It is definitely a dream come true, but it ain't what people think it is.The freedom is the only real perk, to be quite honest. Yeah, the money is better but it definitely comes with its share of headaches. But that freedom, man.... I haven't been to Chicago once since I left. I haven't even sniffed the vicinity. No DC loop, no Baltimore, no Philly, no Boston, no Jersey, and no NYC/White Plains. I've been on 285 around Atlanta one time, that's it. I still run into plenty of nightmare roads, but GD man I don't miss those garbage cities. And Florida. F that state. I think I'm gonna stick with 43 in Ohio as my least favorite road. South of Canton. God help you if the roads are slick, or if you have another semi coming in the opposite direction. Fun times.
