I did my orientation on 23-2-09 and 24-2-09. Got the usual "We're the best company..blah...blah...blah." That's what I thought. The orientation was very good. Even the safety portion was interesting! First good one I've ever been to. I spent 16 years as a commercial pilot in Alaska (Bush), so I've been to a few safety meetings in my time. I've been talking to drivers as much as I can, now that I'm "in" and everything they told us in orientation is holding true, so far.
Got my truck on 24-2-09 in Troutdale, OR and was impressed with how helpful the shop people were. I am just as impressed with how friendly, helpful and seemingly happy everyone I've met so far has been. This is without them knowing I'm a new hire here.
I think I'm going to love this company. They seem to be walking the talk of taking care of their drivers. I understand that no place is perfect, but it seems that they try very hard to be on a driver's side, as well as the side of all employees.
I'll keep you posted. So far: So good!

Yeap, I thought the same thing when I went through their orientation. I thought I had died and went to trucker heaven. I was there for 9 months and only had 1 week that I had 3000 miles. My average was 2000 mi. a week. And that was a year ago before the recession.. IDC loves their team's. Solo's get the leftover's....Good luck Scuba Guy

I loved them as a company and there equipment. I lasted 3 months as a solo because the miles werent there (over a year ago), when you have bills to pay, you must do something. IDC is very team oriented. I wish you luck and I'm just curious on who your DM is (if you feel like saying). DRIVE SAFE
Oh yeah, they sent me and another driver down in a company van to the Troutdale terminal to get our trucks. -
Well, so far so good. I did have to sit in Denver for about a day. I got there Sunday # 19.30 and then had to have the driver's door fixed. It's old and wore out. I was out of there at 13.00 with a new load. Routed me to UT to pick up, then deliver to CA. Good run. I understand what you guys are saying about miles. I am really new, but so far have been taken care of on that front. 2,983 in a week...solo.

Please keep us posted on how things are going for you. Sounds like a good company if they keep getting you the miles. Thanks.

I'm happy for you Scuba Guy. I hope the miles stay up there for you. What I experienced when I worked there was I would have one good week then I would get a 600 mile load that del. in 2 days and takes 5 hours to unload. You get $10 to bump a dock and nothing for the detention. Then you sit for a day and get another 500 mile load. Good luck to you

Yep, I forgot about that, NO DETENTION for drivers, but you know the company gets it.
-
You bet the company gets detention pay. I couldn't understand why the teams got the trucks with apu's and they usally didn't have live unloads. Solo's had the live unloads that took forever to unload without apu's.
-
The reason why they treat their solos like crap is because they want you to team up.
