Datalink Issue

Any place were a cable is against metal and there are ruststreakes......check it.The cable can have rubbed thru on the metal.

 

Where on the vehicle was thw data link connected to the two qualcomm wires? I have those same wires disabled, and am having same problem. It is a mess of wires, however if you can help me zero in on the connection so that I can disconnect it as well that would be greatly appreciated.

 

Should the fire dept. Where all the fuses are, should it be getting very hot?

 

2004 volvo vnl 780 3 pedal autoshift only 100000 original miles hasn't been exposed to salt or snow to much, only few times . The problem I have is when I started the truck on Monday morning out of nowhere abs lightcame on along with that engine ecu, transmission ecu, brake ecu ,light controlmodule showed up on the information center. Truck lost speedometer, turbo gauge, turn signal indicator light and buzzer don't work(lights it self works fine just indicator ondashboard don't work) it works fine with 4ways on , very sensitive throttle ( can't control or keep throttle in one steady position) cruise control not working, not shifting in auto only can shift in manual mode and that is difficult to do .abs light on but seems like abs works . Checked all the fuses at battery box fuse box connections all seems to be very clean no discoloration oxidation and so on. Also checked all the ground cables, cleaned them as needed. This happened over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday was raining really hard) Friday was running perfectly fine and comes Monday this problem . Any suggestions, help much appreciated thanks.

 

I have a 1999 Volvo Vn truck. Gauages and information screen won't work. Says "check cab data link". "The other is check truck susp. Data link". Then says no data. Where would the data link be connected? What is it connected to? Ecm?

The datalink is connected to EVERYTHING. on a 1999, there might be only one, but on an 06 or 07, there should be two. The newer one is a pair of green and yellow wires that run EVERYWHERE. The older one is a pair of black ones. They'll probably connect to all of your sensors and soforth, and maybe a former satellite hookup near the roof and back of the cab. Check there for corrosion that could be causing a short with the link, which would totally disable it. Also, individual sensors may have such shorts that disable the link; and it also might be plain rubbing on metal or cut. I believe it would route back to the ECM. you'd have to use a pinout of your ecm connectors to see which 2 wires go to it. That didn't help me the last time i looked for a data-link short, though. ..... I don't know if there's a link between air-bag suspension and the data link? you mention "truck susp."

 

Hmmm should I disconnectung sensors as well. I do not think it has a satellite link on the roof or a Qualcomm.

 

I had this issue today. Turns out one of my battery terminals was loose. There is a cable going to two fuses and that is the one it was. Glad that’s all it was.
