Self employment tax is not a flat 3 grand and is figured by how much you bring in. You can also deduct part of it on other taxes. Only the first 102,000 of net earnings is taxed on the SS part of the SE tax. There is more to it than that but it is in no way a flat 3 grand. Like the poster stated get a good accountant.

I personaly like the idea that JCT runs the southern states (alot). Less chaining, which brings up another question - drivers are required to purchase there own chains ? DRIVE SAFE:biggrin_25515:

Been awhile since I have heard any reports on miles at JCT. I am at Crete and dry box freight is very slow. If miles are still good I am consideringjumping over to reefer freight.

    Hello!

I am sure by now some of you know me lol. I am looking at JCT since I a) need a job and b) want to own a truck. Something safe where if it goes horridly wrong I can leave. I am a fairly open minded person, and I take corporate stupidity a bit better then some people. I don't expect the company to bend over backwards and I already know what to expect in terms of taxes, health insurance, maintenance, and so on.

What I need to know, and what is the all important question for me. My husband and I want to run team, but we do not want to run 8000 miles a week. We also don't want to run 2000 miles a week. We are looking for a comfortable 3-6000 a week. Is this a feasible number with JCT?

Also if someone could describe how one gets to pick their truck during orientation that would make me feel alot better. We are fairly flexible in truck choice, we want a long nose, Kenworth, Pete, or Freightliner. I prefer Kenworths, hubby prefers Petes.

    IROC,

I referred a person to JCT because of these postings from LMB. If you read the very beginning, you will see they mostly have freightliner classics, intlnationals 9900IX, and Kenworths W9's and T6's with new cascadias going to senior drivers.

I have heard nothing but positive things on JCT and you will see teams average 5500 miles.
