Ratz. I ran out of hours searching desperately for a place to land between San Antonio and Austin. Finally found a spot at JD truckstop off exit 282 on 35 but was over 14 by almost an hour.
Then I had to spend 1/2 hour explaining myself to JB safety. They told me if I had called before 14 hour up they could have invoked 16 hour rule but after the fact its too late...so...I was supposed to call when I couldn't stop. Right. They won't answer the phone if you are moving. And I was haulin' trying to get to a place.
So if I get a dot log check..how long does this over hours potentially cause me grief?

Don't you use PC? If not you should. If they say your limited tell them check the law as your not in finding safe parking. No company can limit PC its federal law.
-
Just because it's a available option does not mean all companies will let you use it or may put their own limits on it which may or not be stricter then what the feds allow. -
I haul hazmat so I’m not sure if it’s different, but if I’m running out of hours and can’t quite make it, I’ll put a note in my elog that I’m traveling to a safe haven. Again that just might be for hazmat - not sure.
