Construction/oilfield work its deff needed but even regular otr I'd still have one just to hear stuff going on around you. Consider it a safety tool

I always have mine... Its on most of the time. And it has saved my tail more than once. Especially in bad weather during the winter months... "Hey westbound at the xxx yardstick there's a rig jack-knifed, just out of sight around the bend. You need the Monfort lane. Take it slow looks like it might be a tight sqeeze getting around it."
