I was always told 750-800 on the bottom end but close enough. It only has 130k on it and the LSX has crossed my mind. But it need bedsides, cab corner, rockers and maybe floors (rear glass leaked years ago) If not I know the engine will out last the body. Leaves me with good parts for a project. My 14 only has 19k on it and a good daily driver. But it will not tow or haul 1/2 as much as 05. The 2005 I bought new as a single man and I will get every last cent out of her. Only way to justify buying brand new is to drive for every mile, then Ill part it out. Was at a friends bachelor party. Kid 21 or 22 had a F350 ford 4 door on 35's, show quality truck all hopped up. Did a less than impressive burn out, for you Indiana guys (Brake torque) weirdos. Few other kids tried, then my buddy Sam say "Mack go get your work truck". I said "what my 4,000 dollar chevy that has the bed full of guns out by the trap range"? So I ask Jason the homeowner "is it ok to due a burny in your driveway"? "He said yes, they are". So here we go. Posi burny from house to the road, busted a uturn on the road still laying rubber back up the driveway. Idk long ways 60 yards or so. Dumb yes, look on 22 year old friends son face with 75k ford in driveway Priceless!

Didn’t realize the body was that bad. With only 130k, pull the 5.3 and swap it into the 14. I put a gen 4 block in my 99, all that stuff is interchangeable. You’d probably need a different flywheel for the different trans, but that would be a good time to put a nice converter like a Circle D for $400 or so. I also put a Detroit trutrac in mine which is a 4x4, it only locks when it detects wheel slip. Otherwise it’s open.Al. Roper, cke, Shock Therapy and 17 others Thank this.

Still my fav. My older brother in college at the time and me in highschool had a 1989 Gmc S15. reg cab short bed 2wd. But with a 4.3l. Posi read 3.73. Family friend bought it new to pull his boat, old guy. Anyhow my older brother is a computer geek. So I helped him out. Bigger injectors, 2200 stall, shift kit, new chip and a good tune up and dual exhaust. This little ###### was bad. No cyclone but the but nobody paid attention to it. Dark blue factory wheels minni truck. Everyone always assumed its a 2.5 or 2.8. Never looked at the 4.3l emblem in the grill. I wanted to remove that and he didnt. Now this was when 5.0 fox bodys were king, and cheap enough for high school kids to own. That little truck pisssed off so many rich kids in town. My brother asked why when he drove it people flipped him off? Lol he didnt race it. But I did! lol

When my brother in law lived at Vicksburg, Ms the cool thing to do was ride thru the McDonald’s parking lot where high school kids hung out. His friend had an S10 single cab and they were riding three deep. The guy had a loud system that got everyone’s attention and he cranked it up.
My brother in law was sitting by the door, so when everyone turned to look when they heard the system, he ducked down. It looked like two guys sitting right up against each other like some homo’s. They were both trying to pull him backup, LOL.Al. Roper, cke, Shock Therapy and 21 others Thank this. -
Id definitely put the 5.3 in the '14, but while its out, put a decent cam and some good heads on it and with tuning it will pick up a hundred hp. With the right spec' d cam and an on3 turbo kit it'll make another 200hp.
I used to live and breath gen 3 gm engines.Al. Roper, cke, Shock Therapy and 14 others Thank this.
