Many good carriers do pay detention time , layovers , etc. That's why it's very important to find out what a carrier's policies are before accepting a job offer . If possible get an employee manual that lists these things . Many carriers charge detention time but don't pass it on to the driver . The "extras " some companies pay add up . Some things paid for by some companies but not others - hazmat background checks , DOT physicals , passports , uniforms , and more . Many carriers give you a cell phone that is only capable of receiving calls and calling dispatch . I asked my carrier about restrictions of use on my company cell phone . There are none . I can make all the personal calls I want .

    Mikenc50 Thanks this.

    Thank you:biggrin_25520:

Our carrier usually pay detention time but , never in the past it offert an unbelievable one like this. I mean cmon witch driver will make money sitting in the north in winter, with no good truck stop at 150$ a day for 4 days. beside they are the one who miss up the delivery date and I got prove of it.

Alas, if only there was a law. Can anyone imagine how places like Wallyworld would figure out a way to worm out of it?:biggrin_25510:

Now if your comment was just worded in a way we knew what you were talking about. Detention pay or not, if a driver get to many loads late, that the driver should have been able to deliver there going to out of work anyway. Besides 150 a day, if thats all you can make driving you need to change companies anyway.
